Over the past few years there has been an increase in traffic flow on Lyons Road, just North of Boynton Beach Blvd. Due to this increase in drivers heading northbound, residents of the Cobblestone Creek neighborhood, which is situated adjacent to the Cobblestone Commons strip mall on the corner of Boynton Beach Blvd., and Lyons Road, the stretch of road has become increasingly unsafe for students crossing the road, and residents wishing to simply exit the residential development.
We are petitioning the City of Boynton Beach governing body, and Palm Beach County, respectively to take action in the form of a traffic light installation process. This traffic light will enable residents to safely exit their neighborhood, and pedestrians, most of whom are children attempting to go to and from their neighborhood before and after school.
This traffic light should be installed at the Lyons Road, Royal Cobblestone Way intersection. Currently, the influx of drivers attempting to make U-turns at that juncture are also impeding upon the successful exit from residents. They get backed up in line waiting to make a U-turn, and create a bottleneck for residents trying to simply exit their neighborhood by crossing into the U-turn traffic.
